Venezuela was once South America‘s wealthiest country, and Latin America‘s most stable democracy. Today, 96% of Venezuelans are living in poverty. The country has been hijacked by a criminal dictatorship, and is used as an international hub for drug trafficking, money laundering, illegal gold mining, and political interference from foreign actors. While the country remains stuck in a political impasse, the situation remains underreported by major media outlets. This leaves fringe organizations free to capitalize on a lack of information to manipulate perceptions of the Venezuelan crisis through clever disinformation. This podcast seeks to right this wrong by revealing the truth to the world as the only active English-language podcast on Venezuela. Join host Rafael as he discusses with journalists, academics, and Venezuelan activists who share their research and personal stories to reveal the hidden depths of one of the greatest ongoing humanitarian crises in the world.

In this episode, we discuss the Juan Guaidó-led Venezuelan opposition's "National Salvation Agreement" and their recent decision to enter ongoing negotiations with representatives of the Maduro regime (include Nicolás Maduro's son) in Mexico, as well as the decision to participate in local and regional elections to be held in November of this year.
Like most Venezuelans, both in the country and abroad, we remain skeptical of further dialogue and negotiations with the Maduro regime, and much more so of participating in elections in a dictatorship. In the past, the regime has repeatedly used negotiations as a stalling tactic, further dividing the political opposition and distracting the international community. Election results in Venezuela are rigged or not honored by the regime, paving the way for the dictatorship's current usurpation of institutions to begin with.
Zach Foster is the host of Latin Libertarians TV, hosted by the Libertarian Party of the United States, and helps operate the Citizens' Embassy of Venezuela.

Nice podcast. We need more podcasts like this at least every month or every 2 weeks about Venezuela. You could see it as a threat but what about us ourselves? (exvenezuelans) We have our sovereignity already damaged! Could you please prepare one more Historical related subjet, one about the origins of each (1776 vs 1811) independence declaration and the greatest civil wars of each (1861-1865 vs 1859-1863) and their relationships, things at stakes and scales of the conflicts.. Thank you
